1 RADIOACTIVE SOURCES These sealed radioactive sources are mounted within a metal holder which has wire mesh across the open end and a 4mm mounting pin on the shielded end. They are supplied in a small lead castle with lead lid, which is inside a wooden box with hinged lid. These sources and are sent out direct from the manufacturer. Half-life and nominal activity levels: Americium-241 (alpha source): half-life 248 years, activity 185 kBq. Cobalt-60 (gamma source): half-life 5.26 years, activity 185 kBq. Strontium-90 (beta source): half-life 28 years, activity 185 kBq. Cat No. Description Price Per

2 EXTRA LONG FORCEPS Extra-long premium stainless steel forceps/ tweezers which are strong and robust. Useful for handling radioactive sources. as well as for dissection purposes etc Dimensions 300 x 36 x 10 mm (h x w x d). Weight 90g. Cat No. Description Price Per RAD-850-100 Extra Long Forceps 19.59 ea. 3 RADIATION DETECTOR WITH COUNTER An accurate and compact hand held radiation detector with counter and digital display, capable of detecting alpha, beta and gamma radiation. The type of radiation detected can be selected simply by using selective filter switch to shield the mica window. Radiation detection options are: gamma detection only; beta and gamma detection; alpha, beta & gamma detection. Features include an in-built battery which lasts up to 12 years, a 9.1mm diameter sensor and PC software. This is a standard radiation detector/ Geiger counter which is ideal for the continuous measurement and recording of radiation/ radioactivity. The detector is equipped with a Geiger-Müller (GM) tube and the interface allows the transfer and evaluation of the measurement data onto a personal computer. The Radiation Detector has a measuring range from weak environmental radiation to large doses of radiation 0.01mSv/ h to 1,000mSv/ h (legal limit 20mSv per year). Alpha detection from 4 MeV; Beta detection from 0.2 MeV; Gamma detection from 30 keV. • Can be used as a Geiger counter or dose rate meter • 4 digit LCD display • Radiation pulse counts stored in internal memory • Dose rate displayed in Sievert or Rem • Acoustic beep when radiation exceeds user-selected level (default level 5 μSv/h) • Displays cumulative radiation dose • Selectable pulse count: 1 minute; 10 minutes; 1 hour; 1 day; 7 days Comes supplied with: PC-reading software on CD-ROM (Windows PC required); USB cable; Quality certificate with serial number; Instruction manual. Cat No. Description Price Per RAD-260-100 Radiation Detector 403.38 ea. 4 RATEMETER This ratemeter/geiger counter is a robust, portable and compact unit capable of detecting alpha, beta and gamma radiation and recording events on a re-settable digital counter. It has an integral Geiger- Muller (GM) tube which is maintained at high voltage by a small electronic inverter. Events register as audible clicks as well as a visible count on a small LCD display. The unit is powered by a single alkaline PP3 battery. Cat No. Description Price Per RAD-250-100 Ratemeter 324.98 ea.
