BIURET REAGENT Detects peptides which are found in proteins. copper (II) ions form a violet coloured solution in the presence of peptides and when in an alkaline solution. Fehling’s Solution No. 2 is an aqueous solution of alkaline tartrate. Use to distinguish between aldehyde and ketone functional groups.
